ASP World Tour ready for kick off!

Jordy Smith (ZAF), 23, last year’s ASP World Runner-Up prepares for an all out assault on the world’s best at the upcoming Quiksilver Pro Gold Coast.

The world’s best surfers have converged on Australia’s Gold Coast for the opening event of the 2011 ASP World Title season, the Quiksilver Pro Gold Coast presented by Land Rover, which will take place from February 26 through March 9, 2011 at the world-renowned breaks of southern Queensland.

Utilizing the high-performance pointbreak of Snapper Rocks as the primary venue, the Quiksilver Pro Gold Coast has the ability to go mobile to several nearby world-class waves, offering the ideal forum for the ASP Top 34 to open up their respective 2011 ASP World Title campaigns.

The Quiksilver Pro Gold Coast will run from February 26 through March 9, 2011 and will be webcast LIVE via http://www.quiksilverpro.com

ASP International & Quiksilver Announce $1 Million Quiksilver Pro New York

HUNTINGTON BEACH, California/USA (Wednesday, January 26, 2011)

Quiksilver and the Association of Surfing Professionals (ASP) today announced the Quiksilver Pro New York, set to take place on Long Island’s Long Beach from September 4-15.
The Quiksilver Pro New York will be the 6th stop on the 2011 ASP World Tour and the first-ever ASP World Tour stop on the East Coast of the United States. The event will offer a $1 million dollar prize purse to competitors, an amount unprecedented in professional surfing.
The Quiksilver Pro New York will expand the Quiksilver Pro Global Series, which also includes the Quiksilver Pro Gold Coast in Australia (February 26-March 9) and the Quiksilver Pro France (October 4-15).
